Empowering Fort Lauderdale through vehicle donations and benefit connections

Our mission, our story, and why this work matters locally.

How we started

Cruise for Cause began as a grassroots initiative in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, driven by a simple, yet profound realization: many of our neighbors were eligible for vital benefits but didn’t know how to access them. Founders from nearby neighborhoods recognized the disconnect between programs like SNAP and Florida KidCare and those who needed them most. We set out to bridge this gap.

With a shared vision of a healthier, more informed community, we discovered that vehicle donations could provide a sustainable funding source for outreach and research. By turning unwanted cars into lifelines, we empower locals to get connected to crucial assistance programs. Our mission is to create a thriving environment where every resident has the opportunity to access necessary resources—transforming our community one donation at a time.

Our mission

At Cruise for Cause, our mission is to connect Fort Lauderdale residents with essential benefits programs like SNAP, Florida Medicaid, Temporary Cash Assistance, WIC, LIHEAP, and Florida KidCare. We are dedicated to making the process simple and accessible, ensuring that no one in our community is left behind. Through our vehicle donation program, we fund the research and outreach necessary to inform and support our neighbors. Together, we can create a more equitable community where everyone thrives.

Our principles

Why this city

Fort Lauderdale is a vibrant city known for its beautiful beaches and diverse population, yet many residents face significant challenges in accessing essential services. Neighborhoods like Bonnet House and Melrose Park often contain families unaware of their eligibility for programs like WIC and LIHEAP. Our city's demographics show that a substantial portion of the population may not enroll in available benefits due to misunderstandings or lack of information. By targeting these gaps, we strive to uplift our entire community, ensuring that everyone can thrive despite their circumstances.
